alt.news 26:46 gets seven Mid-America Emmy nominations

CARBONDALE – Alt.news 26:46, a half hour TV news magazine at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, received seven nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Mid-America Regional Chapter Emmy Awards.

The program has earned 23 regional Emmys and four national college Emmys. Jay Carey, a senior in radio-television from Carterville and Thomas Lareau, a sophomore in radio-television from Watseka, received a nomination in the magazine program category for episode 1003. Dylan Damian, a freshman in radio-television from Carbondale, received a nomination in the promotion-image promo-single spot (non-news) category. Scott Blair, a senior in radio-television from Deerfield was nominated for on-camera talent-performer/host. Kevin Rogers, a 2008 graduate in radio-television from Naperville picked up a nomination in the specialty program category for the 10th anniversary special. Carey, Lareau, Damian and Timothy Wilkerson, a senior in radio-television from Crystal Lake, received a nomination in the graphic arts-graphics-program/news category for “alt.news 26:46 graphical elements.” Carey picked up two other nominations in the arts/entertainment program feature category for “Calypso Tumblers” and the human interest-program story/feature category for “Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping.”

The award ceremony will be on Oct. 3 at the Renaissance Grand St. Louis.
